Type director visits SCAD classes

Alex White (center), president of the Type Directors Club, talks with Savannah College of Art and Design graphic design students Jan. 9 in Poetter Hall. The TDC’s 53rd annual traveling exhibition, which features award-winning entries in typography, calligraphy, hand-lettering and other forms, is on display at SCAD through Feb. 8. White visited both advertising design and graphic design classes at the college, and on Feb. 9, he delivered a presentation at the SCAD Student Center.

In addition to his work with the TDC, White is managing partner of the Alexander W. White Consultancy and author of five books, including “Advertising Design and Typography,” “Thinking in Type” and “The Elements of Graphic Design.” He teaches at Parsons the New School of Design and City College of New York.
