By Monique Bos Published: Friday, February 15, 2008 Barnard Village residents show their work Residents of SCAD's Barnard Village, 3121 Barnard St., are holding "Night at the Museum" Feb. 22, 7-9 p.m., in the common room. The free event includes a gallery exhibition and judging of work by Barnard Village residents, and is sponsored by residence life and housing. E-mail for more information. SCAD hosts Fibers Open Studio 2008 SCAD presents Fibers Open Studio 2008 Feb. 22, 5:30-8:30 p.m., at Gordon Hall, 439 E. Broad St. The event is free and open to the public. Samples of fine art, studio production, industry design and material exploration will be featured. A drawing will be held for a collaborative quilt, on display at shopSCAD, 342 Bull St., that was made by fibers students. Tickets can be purchased for $1 or donated art supplies, which will be given to Union Mission’s Growing Hope Artisan’s Cooperative. Exhibition highlights young Savannah artists Work by Savannah middle and high school students is on display through Feb. 22 at Gallery S.P.A.C.E., 9 W. Henry St., through Feb. 22, in "New Beginnings." Work focuses on the 2008 Savannah Black Heritage Festival theme, “Yesterday’s Story, Today’s Legacy.” The exhibition is free and open to the public. City gallery hosts show for SNAG In connection with the Society of North American Goldsmiths conference March 5-8, which is bringing multiple exhibitions to SCAD, the city of Savannah is holding "Surge," a juried show of metalwork, at Gallery S.P.A.C.E., 9 W. Henry St., March 3-28. On display will be 84 pieces by 66 undergraduate and graduate students from all over the United States. The exhibition is free and open to the public. An artist reception is scheduled for March 7, 5:30-9 p.m. In addition, SCAD metals and jewelry professor P.J. Chen will present a lecture, “Contemporary Metalworking,” March 18, 6 p.m., at the Black Box at S.P.A.C.E., as well as conducting a tour of the exhibition and holding a question- and-answer session. On March 20, 6-9 p.m., Ashley Warsaw will conduct a woven pendant workshop. Pre-registration is required; there is a $25 fee and limit of 12 participants. Materials will be provided.
