High announces spring exhibition lineup
“TRANSactions: Contemporary Latin American and Latino Art” is on display at the High Museum of Art, 1280 Peachtree St. N.E., through May 4. The exhibition, organized by the Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego, showcases work by Latin American and Latino artists including Francis Alÿs, José Bedia, Maria Fernanda Cardoso, Enrique Chagoya, Iran do Espírito Santo, Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Alfredo Jaar, Gabriel Kuri, Ana Mendieta, Vik Muniz, Gabriel Orozco, Doris Salcedo, Rubèn Ortiz Torres, Marcos Ramirez (ERRE) and Perry Vasquez. The exhibition is accompanied by wall texts in English and Spanish, and a bilingual exhibition catalog also is available.

Also on display through May 4 is "Georgia O’Keeffe and the Women of the Stieglitz Circle." The exhibition contextualizes O'Keeffe's work with that of predecessors who associated with her husband, photographer Alfred Stieglitz. The exhibition features approximately 90 pieces, including paintings, drawings and photographs by O'Keeffe, as well as work by Pamela Colman Smith, Katharine Nash Rhoades, Georgia Engelhard, Gertrude Käsebier, Anne Brigman and Stieglitz.

American photographers of a later era are showcased in “Street Life: American Photographs from the 1960s and 70s,” on display through April 20. The exhibition features 60 images taken by four photographers -- Dennis Carlyle Darling, Danny Lyon, Susan Meiselas and Garry Winogrand -- during the era that included the counter-cultural movement, the Vietnam War and women’s liberation.

“Embodying the Sacred in Yoruba Art” features approximately 70 pieces of African art created by the Yoruba people. The exhibition showcases work donated to the High Museum and the Newark (N.J.) Museum by collectors Bernard and Patricia Wagner, as well as pieces from both museums’ permanent collections.
