Students hold ‘Revival’ at historic house
Photography by Savannah College of Art and Design student Nathan Latimer is on display in a historic mansion at 121 E. Victory Drive during “Revival 121” March 3-4. By Monique Bos Published: Friday, March 3, 2006 A vacant mansion on East Victory Drive will be transformed this weekend into a venue for art exhibition, installation and musical performances. More than 20 Savannah College of Art and Design students have collaborated to produce “Revival 121,” a two-day event held in a historic house at 121 E. Victory Drive. The show opens March 3 with a reception, 6-11 p.m., and continues March 4 with an open house, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. In addition to an array of photography and painting work — most of it for sale — “Revival 121” features artist demonstrations, multimedia work and musical guests. Visitors to the exhibition can watch students Adolfo Hernandez and Rogelio Gaytan paint a mural, view a video installation by Brandon Zellars or watch Duncan McDaniels create a sculpture installation. Motion graphics work by Ryan Duggan, Daniel Oeffinger, William O. Campbell, Eric Edwards, Will Johnson, Jeni Wamberg, Daniel Block and Matt Smithson also will be exhibited. During the opening reception, California-based singer/songwriter Michelle Armstrong will perform at 8 p.m. Armstrong has played local venues such as the Sentient Bean and also has performed at SCAD-Lacoste. Following her concert, at 10 p.m., broadcast design and motion graphics professor Jim Gladman and an accompanying DJ will treat visitors to a visual montage. “Revival 121” also features photography by Nathan Larimer, Jessica Shouse, Tyler Buckley, Adrienne Fletcher, Brandon Schaffner, Krystal Lewis and The Chronicle contributor Dennis Burnett. Paintings by Jessica Brown, Levar Carter, Meagan Kimber and Andre Tellier also are exhibited. The exhibition is free and open to the public. |
