Nicktoons holds ‘Nextoons’ Nicktoons, Nickelodeon’s digital channel for children, holds the second annual “Nextoons: The Nicktoons Film Festival.” This on-air festival celebrates the diversity of independent animated filmmaking from around the world. Nicktoons encourages all animators to enter their short films, created in any style of animation, of 10 minutes in length or less. Shorts must have sequences acceptable to a family-oriented audience and should combine a unique look, great character design and funny plot. Winners are chosen by a pre-selection jury, and the finalists air on Nicktoons and online in August. A grand jury selects a $10,000 grand prize winner from the top 10 films chosen. There also will be a Viewer’s Choice prize, based on the selection of online voters. “Nextoons: The Nicktoons Film Festival” is produced by Frederator Studios. The call for entries is open until June 17. Entrants must be at least 18 years old. For additional information or to download entry forms, visit www.nicktoons.com.
