By Scott Jepson In conjunction with the Savannah College of Art and Design alumni services department, the United Student Forum established the Silver Scholarship Fund to assist SCAD students in achieving their academic goals by providing financial support for their education. This scholarship has been funded by donations from today’s students to help those of tomorrow. “The Silver Scholarship is unique because it is a scholarship made by students for students and it helps keep someone here at SCAD,” said Stephanie Hearst, USF president. “What can be better than knowing you are a part of helping make someone’s dream to attend SCAD come true?” This spring, USF representatives are actively promoting the completion of their goal: the endowment of the Silver Scholarship. Once endowed, the Silver Scholarship will provide recipients with a minimum of $500 to assist with tuition costs. To bring the balance of the scholarship to the endowment level of $10,000, students are seeking assistance from the SCAD community. They are selling $5 raffle tickets to win a 1990 BMW 325i black convertible, donated by Critz BMW of Savannah. USF students will draw the winning raffle ticket at the “Over the Top” party celebrating the endowment of the Silver Scholarship. The celebration will take place April 28, Orleans Hall, 201 Barnard St., beginning at 9 p.m. In addition to drawing the winning raffle ticket, the USF will present an award to the student who sells the most tickets. Jepson is director of development. |
