Communications department launches online request system By Angela Ashley The Savannah College of Art and Design communications department is introducing a new Web site accessible through MySCAD. As part of this site, the department also launched a new Communication Request System, which allows faculty and staff from Atlanta, Lacoste, Savannah and e-Learning to submit master calendar information, accolades and other communication requests and updates. “We have developed a more convenient way for faculty and staff to request communications support,” said Bruce Chong, dean of communications. “The CRS will expedite the process and position us for future demands as the college expands.” Since the CRS is based online, it not only allows faculty and staff to submit communication requests, it also provides a way for the individual submitting the request to track the status. When the request is submitted a request number is generated. The person who made the request can return to the CRS, select status update and enter the request number. If the request is approved, a job number is assigned. If the request is denied, that status is reported as well. “In the past, all of our Web updates and mass e-mail requests have been manually tracked,” said Chong. “This makes it difficult to report back on the status of individual requests. An online system will save us time in tracking jobs and will give us the ability to generate reports for the workflow of the entire communications department in a consistent format.” When submitting communication requests, it’s important that faculty and staff follow the college’s current communication policies and guidelines, especially as they relate to trademark requirements, graphic standards and mass e-mail distribution. For important information regarding the college’s trademark policy, graphic standards and mass e-mail distribution, visit the communications site located under the Employee tab of MySCAD, http://myscad.scad.edu. Ashley is director of communications. |
