Branders wanted
TheCreativeCoast initiative is seeking a logo to be associated with a comprehensive brand image for a new, highly collaborative, Savannah city-wide economic development initiative to promote and attract knowledge-based creative and technical business. The goal of this logo contest is to create a memorable image and brand icon that represents the historic, creative and technical aspects of Savannah. Think of it as, “Savannah: We may be beautiful, but we sure are smart.” First place logo will receive $300, while the second place logo will receive $150. The contest ends May 14. Ukrainians (and non-Ukrainians) unite
Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art in Chicago seeks entries into “Juventus 2004,” a juried exhibition open to all art students and recent graduates. All media is considered; dimensions are unrestricted. Interested artists should send slides or photographs of up to five pieces along with a short biography, artist statement and $10 processing fee in an envelope marked “Student Exhibition” by Oct. 1. Korean media-artists wanted
The San Francisco Korean American Media Arts Festival, Oct. 1-3, is looking for media works by Korean American media artists. The SFKAMAF accepts films, videos, multimedia and media installations made by and/or about Korean Americans and Koreans. Categories include documentary, narrative, music video, experimental, new media, media installation, animation and youth-made works. Signed entry forms, preview tapes and press kits must arrive at the office by July 31. There is a $20 entry fee for 35mm and 16mm formatted submission and a $10 entry fee for all other formatted submission. Entry fees should be made payable to KIMA. Eligible exhibition formats include 35mm, 16mm, DVD, DVCAM, DV, mini DV, DVCPRO, VHS and CD-Rom. Be sure to include a preview tape, still images, slides, synopsis, director’s biography, filmography, cast and crew listing and any relevant reviews or production notes. Scholarship established in honor of local artist and historian
Applications for a newly established scholarship honoring Mildred Nix Huie, whose landscapes of coastal Georgia are in private collections throughout the world, are now being accepted. To apply, a student must be either enrolled in or accepted to a visual arts curriculum in an accredited institution of higher learning. Two $500 awards will be presented. One award will be presented to a high school student and the second award to a college or university student. Interested students should contact The Glynn Art Association at 638-8770. The application deadline is May 15.

Submit entries to Indiefest
Indiefest, which celebrates the “vision without compromise” spirit of the independent filmmaker, will take place July 30 - Aug. 8.

Indiefest is accepting applications for the 2004 festival. The film and video section of the festival accepts films/videos of all lengths and genres. The screenwriting competition, sponsored by the renown Screenwriter’s Project, accepts screenplays, novels, short stories, etc. that can be adapted to the screen.

Call for ‘Ideas that Matter’
Sappi, the world’s leading producer of coated fine paper used in the production of high-quality print, has issued a call for entries into its annual “Ideas that Matter” competition, which is open to individual designers, design firms, in-house corporate design departments, design teachers, individual design students and student groups. Poster competition entry deadline is May 20
Organizers of the Savannah Music Festival have issued a call for entries for the 2005 Savannah Music Festival Poster Competition. The poster/image is to be very “art/illustration” in style (expressive). The image can employ painting, illustration, drawing, electronic imaging, etc. The theme is “Experience it! - International, live music.” The size requested is 24-by-36-inches (standard size) or variations 34-by-22-inches or 38-by-27-inches (a ratio of two to three). The poster requires four-color process printing. The design must have some compatibility with the Savannah Music Festival’s logo but does not need to feature the logo. The poster needs to feature the following text: Savannah Music Festival, March 22 - April 5, 2005.

All SCAD students enrolled in classes spring 2004 are eligible.

The following information must attached to the entry: name, student ID, SCAD e-mail address, local phone number, hometown, major, professor and class the project was completed in, and medium executed.

First prize is $1,000, Second place wins $500 and $250 goes to the third-place winner.

The winning image will be used for the poster, cover of the event program, and other items associated with marketing festival.

The deadline for entries is May 20 at 5:30 p.m. at Charlton Hall. Call 525-5853 for more information.

Telfair calls for entries
The Telfair Museum of Art has issued its 10th annual call for entries into the museum’s art fair, which will be held Nov. 12-14. A $15 nonrefundable fee must be submitted for each category entered, and artists must send three slides of three different pieces in each category. Entries must be postmarked no later than July 16.
