Savannah College of Art and Design freshmen fashion
majors Janet Smith (left) and Nicole Eager create a costume
during the Art of Spectacle costume workshop Feb. 21 at Boundary Hall.
Artists Karen
McVay Butch and Martha Enzmann conducted the workshop,
which focused on planning, designing and creating original, formalistic,
yet whimsical costumes
using alternative materials such as paper, fabric, poles,
lumber, duct and masking tape, paint and more in preparation for the Sidewalk
Arts Festival
parade to be held in April. The parade is a new event
this year, organized to celebrate the college’s 25th anniversary.
