  Coaches dragged into fund-raiser

Miss Sugar Booger (aka Eddie Concepción, the Savannah College of Art and Design women’s basketball coach) responds to audience approval in the “Queen for Almost a Day” pageant at Orleans Hall Jan. 21. Coaches and staff of the athletics department participated in the comedy fund-raising event to benefit the softball team. The event raised nearly $1,000 and featured (left) Concepción, the winner of the pageant, assistant baseball coach Shawn Summe as Sister Hula Hannah, sports information director Michael MacEachern as Lady Van Horn Snooty, athletics director Jud Damon as Tiny Tina Twostep, women’s soccer coach Andy Williamson as Miss Featherbottom and athletics trainer Jason Johnson as Cleopatra Higgenbotham. Assistant baseball coach David Haverstick and assistant men’s basketball coach Rod Echols as Erma and Emi, along with assistant athletics director Quin Monahan as Ima as The Triplets came in second place. Damon takes a final walk across the stage. Assistant softball coach Traci Simons and women’s golf coach Amanda Workman emceed the event.
