Order holiday cards from Design Press
Design Press is offering unique holiday cards at a great price. Each card features work by SCAD students, faculty and/or alumni and are printed on high-quality paper. Faculty and staff may purchase the cards at a special discount rate of 10 cards for $12.50 or individual cards for $1.75.

To choose from four available card designs (including the snowman at right) e-mail gstrauss@scad.edu, call 525-5212, or stop by the office in Keys Hall. Delivery is available through intercampus mail.


Institutional advancement seeks alumni art
The institutional advancement department is seeking donations of work from alumni for a silent auction at the annual Scholarship Gala Jan. 17. All proceeds benefit the Savannah College of Art and Design Student Scholarship Fund. The deadline for submission is Jan. 3. Alternative spring break planned for Mississippi
Service Opportunities for Students would like to invite members of the SCAD faculty and staff to join them on their annual alternative spring break trip March 14-21. This is a free trip for all those involved and lasts the entire week of spring break. This year’s trip will take the group to the Gulf coast of Mississippi. During the week, SOS will be participating in community service projects such as the Biloxi chapter of Habitat for Humanity, art classes with the Jackson County Boys and Girls Club, as well as painting a mural in Ocean Springs. Other projects are being confirmed as well as activities that will expose the group to the culture of that area of the country. This would also be a great opportunity for faculty and staff to experience this same amazing trip and to get a taste of what the SOS office does year-round. Institutional advancement hosts grant workshop
The office of institutional advancement will be hosting a grant development workshop Dec. 13, 10 a.m. to noon, at the Jen Library, Room 108. Space is limited to 20 participants. Additional workshops will be scheduled based on demand. All faculty and staff who are interested in learning about applying for grants are invited.


Work needed for upcoming exhibition
The galleries department invites all SCAD students, faculty, staff and alumni to participate in the upcoming "Big Picture Show." This year’s exhibition runs Jan. 8 - Feb. 10 in the Alexander Hall Gallery and will be featured in the January Gallery Hop. The deadline for submissions is Dec. 10.

Work also is being accepted for the "Red on Red" exhibition which opens Feb. 6 in Red Gallery. The exhibition features and pays tribute to the dynamism of the color red in contemporary art. Work in all 2-D and 3-D media is welcome. The deadline for submissions is Dec. 20.

Donate your old computer to SPD
The Savannah Police Department is looking for old, working computers to use for the Savannah Community Alert Network crime prevention program. The Hive is buzzing
All faculty and staff are invited to visit The Hive, a new online community created and managed by students. Join this community to be directly on the pulse of what students are talking about and to answer questions related to your department’s services. To register as a user via your employee information or faculty resources account, visit http://www.scad.edu/employee, and click on "Personal Information" and then on "Register for an Account on The Hive" (https://bannerweb.scad.edu/banner/plsql/hwgkhive.P_HiveRegistration). You will need to input your Banner ID number and pin. Proceed to http://www.scad.edu/thehive and click on "Student Forums" to read and participate in message board discussions. SCAD hosts summer conferences
SCAD faculty and staff now have the opportunity to bring in special interest groups during the months of June and July. This conference package includes reasonably priced accommodations in Turner House, state-of-the-art dining facilities, transportation, audiovisual services, conference coordination services and excellent venues for large meetings as well as classroom space for small breakout sessions and/or workshops. Please keep in mind that SCAD is only able to accommodate groups with a minimum of 20 participants.

These conferences provide excellent opportunities and resources for the entire college. There is a $100 referral fee provided for each signed conference contract.
