Alumni fire up glass-blowing workshop

SCAD illustration alumni Bryan Kitson (foreground) and Andrew Brown teach a glass-blowing workshop at Fahm Hall Oct 19. Both Kitson and Brown studied illustration at SCAD and graduated with B.F.A. degrees in 1998. After graduation, Kitson ventured into freelance painting, murals and the restoration of stained glass, while Brown moved to the Southwest where he restored old photographs before being introduced to flameworking. In the spring of 2001, Kitson moved to New Mexico where he and Brown began experimenting with glass and created KBGlassworks. According to their Web page, www.kbglassworks.com, they “study, admire and draw inspiration from Lewis Wilson, Jered Delong, Picasso, Dali and many of the abstract expressionist artists.”
