Randy Akers, professor of computer art, was recently given the 2002 Volunteer of the Year Award by the Live Oak Public Libraries. Akers and his graduate motion graphics II class were instrumental in organizing Live Oak’s new logo design, and public service announcements for the launching of the Live Oak Public Libraries System. The students now have three public service announcements broadcasting locally on television, and the new logo has been incorporated into all new print and media materials for the library.

Garman Herigstad, professor of computer art, has been invited to work on visual effects for the Roland Emmerich feature film “The Day After Tomorrow” (starring Dennis Quaid) at Digital Domain, in Venice, Calif.
