Keith Davis scored 24 points as the Savannah College of Art and Design men's basketball team rallied from nine points down in the second half to defeat Fisk University 78-73 Jan. 21 at the Savannah Civic Center.

The Bees won their 10th consecutive game and improved to 15-5 while Fisk fell to 7-6. The victory streak is the second most in school history for SCAD as the Bees won 11 straight during the 1996-97 season. SCAD will try to tie that streak Jan. 26 when they host Rust College in a 3 p.m. contest at the Savannah Civic Center.

SCAD, which led 41-38 at the half, saw the Bulldogs reel off nine unanswered points to take a 54-45 lead with 13:06 remaining on a jumper by Jeffrey Anderson, who finished with 20 points. The Bees responded with a 21-6 run capped by a 3-pointer by Labeeb Abdullah to take a 66-60 lead with 6:05 remaining. Abdullah finished with 15 points.

The Bulldogs closed to within a point (66-65) on a free throw by Anderson with 3:58 remaining, but Ryan Kaminski's put-back 27 seconds later ignited a 6-0 run for the Bees that gave SCAD a 72-65 lead with 1:10 left. Fisk would get as close as four points the rest of the way, but SCAD made four free throws in the final minute to seal the win.

Adam Thomason also scored in double figures for the Bees with 10 points while James Omedo pulled down a career-high 12 rebounds. Omedo also added nine points.

The team’s swarming defense stung another opponent Jan. 20 at the Savannah Civic Center.

The Bees, who are ranked 12th in field goal defense (38.3 percent) limited the Scots of Maryville College to 25.0 percent shooting from the floor (16-of-64), including a frigid 17.1 percent (6-of-35) in the first half as SCAD defeated Maryville College 68-58.

With the SCAD win, Maryville saw its 11-game winning streak snapped and fell to 13-3. The Bees have handed the Scots two of their three losses this year.

Davis led the Bees with his 11th double double of the season as he scored 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Abdullah finished with 11 and Kyle Jones kicked in 10.

SCAD rode the guard combination of Jones and Abdullah as they shot 54 percent from the floor en route to defeating Apprentice School 80-69 Jan. 18 in Newport News, Va.

Jones hit four three-pointers for 17 points and Abdullah scored 13 points with 13 assists as four Bees were in double figures.

SCAD led from start to finish as the Builders only tied the game once at 2 on a jumper by Charles Holiday.

Davis led SCAD with 20 points while Otim finished with 10. Adams also finished in double figures with 11 points.
