Joshua Brice created the winning design in the Krispy Kreme Art Contest.
Graphic design junior Joshua Brice was awarded first prize in the Krispy Kreme Art Contest. The award ceremony was held Jan. 16 at the Krispy Kreme on Skidaway Road. Brice’s work will be printed on T-shirts and coffee mugs and sold at the store. The Krispy Kreme corporate office also is planning to create a note card or post card with the work on it, with sales from the cards used to fund a graphic design department scholarship at SCAD.

The contest began in the fall and was held in conjunction with the remodeling of the Skidaway Road store. Krispy Kreme asked SCAD students to create pieces that celebrated Krispy Kreme and Savannah. The work of 10 students from professor Louis Baker’s Photoshop for Designers class was displayed at the store. Customers were asked to vote for their favorite piece. Brice’s work was displayed, along with the work of Jeffrey Bixler, Jason Ryals, Issei Matsuba, Jason Whitehead, Pat Faino, Michael Shuleva, Keon Wade, Takako Nakanishi and Jessica Spence. The 10 pieces also were presented at the Krispy Kreme corporate headquarters in Winston-Salem, N.C.
