By Barry Buxton, Ph.D. John C. Kane and Hubert F. Millet are the newest appointees to the Savannah College of Art and Design Board of Visitors. The 15-member board assists in fundraising, advocacy and special initiatives to strengthen the college. Kane is the recently retired president and chief operating officer of Cardinal Health, one of the worlds largest integrated healthcare providers. For two decades he served as an executive with Abbott Labs, including president of the Chemical and Agricultural Products Division and the Ross Products Division. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Kane is a graduate of West Chester State University in his home state of Pennsylvania. Kane is on the Board of Directors of Connetics (dermatological research), Grief Brothers (packaging and forest products), Specialty Labs (healthcare), and Benchmark Medical (rehabilitation therapy). He serves in an executive advisory capacity with KBL Healthcare, Wind Point Partners, and the Pendergast Group (all venture/equity groups). Kane resides in Savannah.
Robert S. Jepson Jr., chairman of the Board of Visitors, said, "John Kane and Hubert Millet are great additions to the board in that each brings a unique set of experiences and skills to assist the college." Members of the Board of Visitors are Frank T. Anderson, John E. Cay III, Richard D. Eckburg, Walter O. Evans, M.D., Jim Jen, Robert S. Jepson Jr., E. Michael Powers, Elizabeth H. Roberts, Jane Sibley, Arnold Tenenbaum, Cora Bett Thomas, Sally Waranch and Anne Peeler West. Buxton is vice president for institutional advancement. |
