Create Animex trophies
The organizers of the Animex Student Animation awards invite artists, designers, sculptors and animators to submit trophy design proposals to support the 2005 awards ceremony. Trophies are required for each of the 13 animation categories currently available. A prize will be donated by Focal Press. For a copy of the application criteria, visit www.animex.net/awards/trophy.pdf. Deadline date for trophy design proposals is Sept. 1.

Redefine found objects
The Savannah College of Art and Design is accepting submissions from students, alumni, faculty and staff for “Redefined: Found Object Works,” a group exhibition of work consisting of non-art materials. All media, including collage, assemblage, sculpture and photography, are eligible. Artists may submit up to 10 printed images or slides; include date, year, media and dimensions. Digital media submissions are also accepted. All submissions must include curriculum vitae listing contact information, year and place of birth, exhibition history (separated intro group and solo shows), and awards and distinctions. Accepted work must be ready to hang with screw eyes and wires. Mail entries to “Redefined: Found Object Works,” Pinnacle Gallery, 320 Liberty St., Savannah, Ga., 31401, by Sept. 30. Calling all poets
The International Library of Poetry is awarding $58,000 in prizes to winners of an open poetry contest. Entry is free and open to anyone. To enter, send one original poem of any subject and style to the International Library of Poetry, Suite 19920, 1 Poetry Plaza, Owings Mills, Md., 21117. Poems should be 20 lines or less, and the poet’s name and address should be listed at the top of the page. Entries must be postmarked or submitted online at www.poetry.com by Sept. 30.

Ukrainians (and non-Ukrainians) unite
Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art in Chicago seeks entries into “Juventus 2004,” a juried exhibition open to all art students and recent graduates. All media is considered; dimensions are unrestricted. Interested artists should send slides or photographs of up to five pieces along with a short biography, artist statement and $10 processing fee in an envelope marked “Student Exhibition” by Oct. 1.
